About Us
Trails in Georgian Bay
This website is the result of the efforts of many trails organizations, tourist organizations, The Ministry or Tourism and The Environment Network. The Project's goals are to develop connections between the trail systems along the southern part of Georgian Bay and to provide users of the trails with a resource for accessing information about the trails, amenities, experiences and the communities along Georgian Bay.
The area offers access to several of Ontario’s pre-eminent trail systems, connecting many of its parks, cultural and natural amenities, as well as numerous smaller trail systems. The intention is to capture the communities situated along the shoreline of Georgian Bay, and the significant natural features around them, particularly the Niagara Escarpment and the Beaver Valley.

To create a high quality, all season trail system contributing to the area’s development as a world-class tourist destination.
Project Goals
- Position trails as a major core trip motivator for Georgian Bay.
- To have a very large and important impact on the economy of the municipalities within the Georgian Bay area.
- Promote local eco-tourism.
- Increase awareness of points of local interest.
- Promote local heritage sites.
- Increase opportunities for passive and active recreation.
- Provide opportunities for people to improve general health through exercise.
- Position the trails project as a pilot for other destinations interested in developing/promoting their trails as a major core trip motivator.
